HOSPICE Casa Sperantei

HOSPICE Casa Sperantei (HCS) is the largest foundation in Romania offering free palliative care services. The organization runs two hospitals in Brasov and Bucharest, as well as mobile teams in Fagaras and Zarnesti, for the care of patients diagnosed with incurable illnesses. HOSPICE has developed complete palliative care services, offered in day centres, in-patient units, outpatient units, as well as in the patient homes and in the partner hospitals. In its 29 years of existence, HOSPICE has brought comfort and hope to approximately 40.000 children and adults suffering from an incurable illness.

HOSPICE Casa Sperantei develops palliative care at a national and international level through information-sharing and educational programmes destined for professionals, patients, and the community as well as by advocacy and improvement of the current legislation.

Role within MyPath: HCS is the co-lead in the large-scale implementation and validation of MyPath. This includes communication and preparation of each cancer centre for the MyPath implementation study, training of facilitators and baseline data collection, the completion and analysis of the study, and the refinement of the implementation theory.
